(Like it or not, I'm the one who decided to do this blogging thing, so I should just stop being such a coward about it and post once in awhile!)
My last post was nearly 2 months ago, and honest it feels more like a year because so much has happened in that time. Here's the short version:
Doug got laid off, applied for lot's of jobs, interviewed for a few, got offered two, accepted one.
So . . . now we are moving to Montana!!!
We have absolutely, completely,entirely loved living in Alaska! It is a great place, and the Kenai Peninsula is the best! The best people, the best fishing, the best scenery, everything! But since we have to move, we couldn't be happier about where we get to go next.
The next best place! And that is . . . Whitefish, Montana!

Let's see . . . beautiful mountains (scenery), lakes & rivers in every direction (fishing) & being within driving distance of relatives (people), what more could we ask for?!?

Although sad to leave this wonderful place & the people we have grown to love, we are looking forward to a new adventure in our lives & have the comfort of knowing that the Lord's hand has led us in this direction.
So once the decision was made, we were in a mad panic to get things packed and ready for Doug to haul to Montana. We bought a 28 foot enclosed trailer, loaded it over Thanksgiving weekend, then Doug & Ryan left Monday, December 1st to drive the 2800 miles down the Alcan to Montana. Five long days, and a couple trailer breakdowns later, they arrived in Whitefish. They settled in to a furnished 3 bedroom duplex over the weekend and Doug started his new job at North Valley Hospital this morning!
The plan is that Kaitlyn, Bryce & I will stay here for awhile longer, hoping the house will sell. Ideally, we would move down the first week or two of January, so the kids could start the new school semester in Montana. If that scenario doesn't work out, then the next plan would be to get them there before Spring sports start in March. That way Bryce can finish up the Basketball season in Alaska, plus they can both get involved right away, through Sports, when they get to Montana.
Well, that is as much as I can handle writing at one sitting! I will try to post again soon about other stuff we have been up to!

That is exciting! You are back in Montana!! You'll have to let Christine Smith know since she has family in the Whitefish area!
ReplyDeleteJulie... I know it will be hard to leave Alaska... but we are all so excited to have you back in the lower 48! However- I am sad I never got to come visit you in Alaska. Whitefish look beautiful... I want to move there!
ReplyDeleteI don't think they call that area Treasure Valley but it sure looks like it is a treasure to me. It is beautiful and I am sure you will make so many new friends and arn't you glad you didn't choose a 122 degree weather area to move to. We have some friends which moved here a yr. ago from the other town Doug intervied in. They were so glad to move out of the heat.
